  1. Practice does make a difference when preparing for a presentation. It becomes more natural for the speaker, and if Mrs. Obama has to do it, and she supposedly knows her stuff, then I guess we should too right??? RIGHT!!!!

  2. After viewing the video thee are four tips for giving speeches. Firstly you must arrive early for the speech. Secondly you should have some one to advise and prepare even before you present the speech. Thirdly you should visit and acquaint yourself with the exact place where you will be giving the speech. Lastly you should have a team of supporters for example your family.

  3. I agree with Herbs but, you must also be relaxed: to me this helps with a mental preparation which could assist those who are nervous. Always practice, practice, practice.

  4. From a little personal experience, it really helps when as the presenter you arrive on time. Being familiar with your surroundings before the crowd of people arrive, gives you an unimaginable feeling of comfort that would be totally lost if you had entered for the first time, with or after the crowd. And, yes of course practice and positivity helps.

  5. Preparation and practice is always the key in preparing for a speech. To add to what Khadine said, when you practice it helps with the relaxation. Practice brings familiarity and that in itself eliminates nervousness.

  7. There was really one thing that stood out the most to me in this video:
    1. Preparedness
The more prepared you are the more relax you will be overall (before, during and after) a speech. In addition, the more prepared you are the better you are able to handle any mishaps that may occur during your presentation. Mrs. Obama also had a very good support system that included friends, family, and technical support.

  8. Be prepared indeed. Clearly the good presenters take time to prepare. In this video, a day before, walking out on the podium; standing at the lectern and getting a sense of the height and size and generally appreciating the entire space. All this to ensure that at showtime walking into the arena feels almost as comfortable as walking into a room at home.

  9. It's very instructive that in addition to her mentally preparing herself by going onstage and going through the routine with her assistant, Mrs. Obama's family is there with her all the way. I think that that is probably one of the best support systems a presenter can have.

Intimately knowing your material is also extremely important; not only knowing it, but believing in what you are saying.

  10. preparation, huge on the list for a successful presentation. Exactly what we were discussing in class, practice giving your speech in front of a mirror and if using probs or charts do not leave them out of your practice session.

  11. I am impressed by the smooth flow of her speech, she co-operated all the important people past and present who made sacrifices for a better country. She showed the strength of a good woman behind an important man(her husband) and the importance of family values. It seems to me that she was speaking from her heart and of personal experiences which might have made it more comfortable. It was a great speech, lots of people.Probably well practiced!

  12. As much as possible, preparation is important. However, proper preparation allows you the time to plan, strategize, method of execution, and so forte.

I always believe time management is a critical factor which people must pay alot attention to because it helps your body and mind relax and also bring famalirity within the environment. A support team plays a vital part in your speech because it makes you comfortable, allows you time for corrections, and boost your self-confidence.

Mrs. Obama knows her stuff by incorporating the past with the present.

  14. This video showed the importance of briefing a team, role playing, and discussing roles. Knowledge of who, what, and when things need to be done, shows efficiency and fluency. A lot of time and dedication is required behind the scenes to be influential. Evidently familiarity helps build confidence.

  15. I learned three basic things in which you should do when making a speech, firstly is to arrive at your destination early, secondly knowing what you have to do before you present it,know where you have to stand and your movements always have a glass of water near by,thirdly always have good supporters whether you did good or bad.
